Created in 2018 by the government of the Brussels Capital Region as the merger of 3 public entities (impulse.brussels – coordinator of EEN local consortium – Atrium Brussels and Bruxelles Invest & Export) and acting as a public entity, ABAE employs ca. 300 people, in charge of supporting and accompanying the development of Brussels companies, their innovation processes, their internationalization and the attraction of foreign investment in Brussels. ABAE has been given by the regional authorities 3 missions:
Supporting companies: The Agency supports the development of Brussels companies, from idea to realization, and facilitates their efforts in this direction. It also supports companies wishing to export outside the region / country, as well as stimulating foreign investment in Brussels.
Stimulate the environment: The Agency initiates new dynamics within the Brussels ecosystem and beyond, through innovative projects and actions. It builds connections between private and public actors in the economic world, to strengthen existing links and create opportunities.
Support the public authorities: The Agency is a force of proposal to the Government, by its precise knowledge of the Brussels economic ecosystem. Statistical indicators and field practices enable it to carry out enlightening and enlightened monitoring of the sector and the territory, and to judge the actions carried by the Region.
It also provides collective support via clustering activities. In particular, ABAE hosts the regional Clusters dedicated to Health and e-health technologies, ICT, Sustainable Construction, Audio-visual, Tourism/Event/Cultural, Circular Economy as well as the Brussels Green Tech Network. ABAE is also officially nominated by the Brussels Capital-Regional to host the team of National Contact Point (NCP) on Horizon2020 for all Societal Challenges and Leadership in Enabling and Industrial Technologies as well as Legal & Financial and Coordination. ABAE participates in several EU NCP and EEN projects, in Erasmus for Young Entrepreneurs initiative (COSME) and Feder projects.
